Edited to update that it’s now over. The last Cthulhus are being completed and an update will be posted when the donation is made. Stay tuned for September! 4-1-11
So good and bad and good news on the R’lyief Sale (initial details post). The good news is that the response has been great. At this point I’m anticipating at least $150 raised, allowing for a few people who won’t be able to pay their invoices until payday this Friday.
The bad news is that because the response was so good, I haven’t been able to crochet any extra WeeThulhus to put up for a general sale like I’d intially planned. I was going to put them up here, take pics, lets people claim them and donate, but that doesn’t look like it’ll pan out.
But the third side of the news sandwich is good news again—I still can make Cthulhus if people want to get in on the R’lyief Sale before it’s over. I just won’t have time to put them all up and will only be making according to requests. So here are the updated details:
Step 1) Sometime before the end of the day on March 31st, you request a type and color of Carethulhu. We discuss feasibility. For these I’m only going to be making what’s already in my rather large yarn stash.
Step 2) I post again and redact this post to cut off if there are more orders than I can make. Otherwise, at the end of the day on March 31st, I stop taking these special orders. (I’ve already got something else planned for September if you want to get in on this later on. And there’s always my store, but that’s missing the donation element.)
Step 3) I make the rest of the Carethulhus and invoice you as yours is complete, then ship in batches.
Step 4) When I’ve finished them all, I donate the money to MSF/Red Cross and post screengrabs of the receipts for each with a few bits of my info redacted. I also post part of my spreadsheet so you can see how the donation/fee/shipping broke down. I’m trying to be as open as possible about this. I know it’s possible to fake screenshots and spreadsheets, too, but I don’t do that.
Step 5) I go back to making the various commissions I’ve been putting off and restocking the store. And in September…well, you’ll have to wait and see!
